Reiki is an ancient healing technique that uses the Universal Life Energy passed to the recipient through the practitioner’s hands. There are general hand positions that the practitioner uses – usually about twelve positions lasting anywhere from one to five minutes each. The practitioner starts with the recipient’s head, while he is lying on his back, placing her hands gently over the forehead, sides of head and back of head. Next is the neck/shoulder area, then the chest Chakra points. The healer then moves down to the knees, ankles and feet. Then the receiver turns over onto his stomach and the healer repeats the positions on the back of his body.
During your Reiki session you may experience stomach grumbling, small shocks down your spine and muscle spasms. Reiki causes the brainwave pattern to reach the Theta point, which is elusive and mysterious. The brain activity slows down almost to the point of sleep, but not quite. Theta is the brain state where magic happens in your own neurological activity. During Reiki you will notice heightened receptivity, flashes of dreamlike imagery, inspiration and sometimes ultra-sensitive hearing abilities. Your consciousness expands and you are in an extremely relaxing state of being. We normally only experience this state of being fleetingly as we rise up out of the depths of sleep or drift off to sleep.
The Reiki energy is all-healing. It knows exactly where you need healing and it works as it is needed. The results of Reiki may be very subtle, but it always works and does its job well.
